When referencing is used, you can have the benefit of easy maneuvering through documents so you can better read them as well or perhaps you need to understand the origin of the letter and read the referenced document. In this way a set of documents can be linked to each other in the same thread.
In order for you to use the references, you have to enter the document number manually in the 'Reply to' or 'Reference to' fields during the correspondence creation. Multiple references can be done by using a semicolon (;) in between the numbers. On the cover sheet the references will be shown as below. When entering the APM document numbers in any of these fields, one can navigate between these documents in the Details pages. This would help understanding content, origin, and perhaps guide you to newer documentation in the system.
